The leaves of change

In the words of Percy Bysshe Shelley “There is a harmony in autumn, and a luster in its sky, which through the summer is not heard or seen, as if it could not be, as if it had not been!”

Finally it seems the season of change is upon us, autumn in Finland can be a rather small affair. It lasts for a month or two and then slowly the transition to the dreaded winter begins. The most exciting part of autumn is watching the leaves slowly change their color and leave behind a visual aura that is quite a treat for a nature lover like myself.

The leaves turning pale in color symbolically represents the arrival of change. The cool autumn breeze and the occasional rain creates a feeling of longing and a desire to implement some new changes in our own lives. In my view, Humans are seasonal creatures and tend to introduce new changes every now and then to make up for the feeling of emptiness and loneliness that follows each one of us like a shadow.

Let us take a moment to reflect  the changes that have come in our lives

The arrival of autumn always brings back some wonderful memories from my childhood and in the process makes me realize how much I have grown as a person and how much wiser I have become with the passage of time. As I sit in this lonely bench and observe the changes in nature, I can see why nature and life are so much similar to each other. Life is a physical manifestation of nature and sometimes change becomes a necessity as it teaches us to constantly adapt to new situations and challenges and helps us come to terms with our own shortcomings by taking us on a long journey of self-discovery which ultimately makes us more responsible, guarded and in tuned with the cold harsh reality of life.

Cheers until the next post
